2009 Platte County Report

Wheatland's event took place this morning at 9:30 on the County Courthouse lawn.  We kicked the day off with a public announcement about the event on the local radio station.  Approximately 70 people gathered to children's music and an impromptu LARGE circle of adults and children formed and danced to the music as everyone arrived..  Many local agencies sent reps from their offices in support.  Frank Peasley, one of Platte County's 2 state house reps joined us with 4 of his school aged grandchildren.  Our County Commissioners read a proclamation proclaiming the day "Step Up For Kids Day in Platte County" and it was POWERFUL!  My, how the kids cheered!!  : )  Then the children lined up snake-form and shook their tambourines as they marched about the courthouse lawn.  Many pictures were taken...one mom brought a video camera!  The local paper was present.
